Medica is a non-profit health insurance company headquartered in Minnetonka with offices in Madison and Omaha. The company is active across the heart of America and provides health care coverage in multiple markets. Medica is engaged in our communities through the charitable grant-making work of the Medica Foundation and through active employee giving and volunteer programs.
Medica will host a 12-week, paid Internship Program. Interns will have the opportunity to network within Medica and with other Interns through weekly Lunch-and-Learns and opportunities to hear from Executives. We strive to offer a well-rounded education of the inner workings of a health plan. Each internship offers a meaningful experience and impactful projects you will be able to discuss with future employers. At Medica, we look forward to our Summer Internship Program each year.
Department Introduction:
The Business Development Intern will help our sales area with a variety of things designed to help membership growth. This will include; prospect research, building blue sheets on large prospects, working with the sales team to increase Medica brand recognition, assist in organizing broker council meetings, assist with organizing webinars and other sales related events.
Key Accountabilities:
- Assist with planning market events
- Market education and awareness of Medica
- Managing meeting invitations and logistics
- Update and post supervised social media (Facebook, LinkedIn Etc.) content
- Respond to web inquiries, social media posts and emails
- Create presentation materials
- Work closely with Medica’s communications department for collateral
Qualifications:
Current Junior or Senior pursuing degree in Marketing, Business, Advertising, Hospitality, Communications, Sales
Additional Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-directed with the ability to work with limited supervision
- Social media experience
This position is an Office role, which requires an employee to work from the Omaha office, on average, 2 times per week.
