A disaster recovery consultant works with organizations to assess potential risks, develop comprehensive plans to mitigate the impact of disasters (natural or man-made), and ensure efficient recovery of critical systems and operations by designing and implementing strategies for data backup, system redundancy, and emergency response procedures, including testing and exercising these plans to minimize downtime and protect vital assets in the event of a disruption; they often advise leadership on risk management and continuity strategies to maintain business resilience.
Key Accountabilities:
- Disaster Recovery Planning & Risk Assessment
- Developing plans, outlining recovery strategies, and data restoration procedures
- Identifying potential disaster scenarios, analyzing their impact on business operations, and prioritizing critical systems
- Aid business continuity team in completing business impact assessment
- Testing and Exercises
- Conduct regular tests and simulations to test effectiveness of plans
- Compliance Management
- Ensure adherence to regulations and audits
- Education and Awareness
- Educate staff on their roles and recovery procedures
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and education
- 5 years in IT with 3 years of work as a Disaster Recovery Specialist
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Information Security and IT Risk management capabilities
- Demonstrated understanding of technologies and recovery strategies
- Ability to manage projects
- Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
- Good working knowledge of current IT risks and implementing security solutions
- Experience in creating and executing disaster recovery test plans
- Strong written communication and presentation skills
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology
- Experience with Frameworks such as NIST, HITRUST, SOC2
- Self-starter who can work independently
This position is a Hub role, which requires an employee to occasionally come onsite to the designated office –Minnetonka, MN – for applicable heads-up work. Frequency is determined by business need as decided by leadership.
The full salary range for this position is $100,200 - $171,700. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for incentive plan compensation in addition to base salary.
