What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Secretary position at Medical Associates of Central Florida?
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries or direct calls to the appropriate staff member
- Maintain patient records and update medical information as necessary
- Verify insurance information and assist with insurance billing processes
- Handle confidential patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with medical coding and billing tasks as needed
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers or specialists
- Manage office supplies and ensure inventory is well-stocked
- Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents
Experience:
- Previous experience as a medical secretary or medical receptionist preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
- Proficient in using phone systems and handling multiple phone lines
- Knowledge of electronic health record systems such as eClinicalWorks is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
