Medical Associates Cardiology department is hiring an Anticoagulation RN to join their team!  

Our accredited cardiology department is known for providing excellent patient care by building relationships that last. This team is looking for a dedicated, detail-oriented professional that’s willing to jump in and learn. Anticoagulation nurses play a vital role in helping patients safely manage their anticoagulant therapy, prevent complications, and achieve optimal outcomes. Their expertise is crucial in ensuring that patients receive the appropriate care and education regarding their condition and medications. 

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 4 days a week, primarily 8:00am - 5:00pm. Flexibility is a must!

  • As a newly hired CMA, LPN, or RN, you may be eligible for up to $3,000 in bonuses! 
    • $1,000 bonus paid after completion of your first successful 90 days as a CMA, LPN, or RN
    • $1,000 bonus paid after completion of your first successful year as a CMA, LPN, or RN
    • $1,000 bonus paid after completion of your second successful year as a CMA, LPN, or RN

What you'll be doing: 

  • Monitor and coordinate the care of patients who are on anticoagulant medication such as warfarin (Coumadin) 
  •   Collect pertinent patient health care data, diagnostic testing, treatments, and review medical records and confer with physician/mid-level providers to ensure patient needs are met. 
  •  May include general office duties such as obtaining and updating patient demographic and insurance information, scheduling and coordinating multiple appointments, and creating lab orders. 
  • Patient Assessment: Conduct assessments to determine the patient's medical history, current health status, and specific reasons for anticoagulation therapy. Assess bleeding risk factors and comorbid conditions that may affect the choice of anticoagulant therapy. 
  • Education: Provide thorough patient education on the importance of anticoagulation therapy, medication administration, potential side effects, and safety precautions. Ensure patients understand the importance of compliance with medication regimens. 
  • Assessment of Complications: Assess patients for signs of bleeding or thromboembolic complications and take appropriate action if any issues arise. This may include referring patients for additional diagnostic tests or treatment. 
  • Patient Follow-Up: Schedule and conduct follow-up appointments to track patients' progress, review lab results, and make any necessary adjustments to their treatment plans. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Collaborate with health care team according to plan of care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, co workers, and others. Promote patient wellness and provide patient education.
  • Document care provided, including but not limited to: interventions, medication, patient education, and assist with integrity of medical record.
  • Maintain an office environment that is safe, neat, organized, and supplied with necessary equipment, supplies, and educational materials. Ensure equipment is functioning safely and properly. Perform cleaning and maintenance of equipment according to guidelines.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in performing other additional duties of patient care. Provide input for devising systems to improve quality and efficiency of patient care and workflow. Participate in required meetings.
  • Complete all other assigned projects and duties.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
Experience - From three months to one year of similar or related experience. Experience preferred, but not required. 
 
Education -  RN license required. 
 
Interpersonal Skills - A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary. 
 
Other Skills -  Keyboarding skills and use of electronic equipment. Use and operate a wide variety of diagnostic and medical equipment. Use personal protection safety equipment including gloves, lab coats, gowns, goggles, and face masks/shields. BLS required biannually.
