What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Sterile Processing Shift Supervisor position at Medical Center Hospital?
Position Summary:
The Certified SPD Shift Supervisor assesses and plans the supply needs of the Sterile Processing and ensures instrument priorities are complete according to each day’s surgical schedule. Assesses and maintains the OR, OPS, L&D, and ED storage environments for patient safety. Assumes lead role in shift assignments and accepts responsibility for same. Assures the appropriate and timely processing of instrumentation per manufacturer instructions for use for all inter-departments, Urgent Care, and Family Health Clinics. In the same manner, being compliant with the CDC, ANSI/AAMI ST79, AORN, Joint Commission, and FDA guidelines.
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent, currently hold or actively pursuing IAHCSMM Healthcare Leadership certification (CHL) or CBSPD management certification within six months of hire. Must hold and maintain current certification through IAHCSMM as CRCST, CBSPD or Community College Accredited SP/CST program.
Training and Experience:
1. Complete hospital orientation within 3 months of hire required
2. Complete Customer Service course within 3 months of hire required
3. IACSHMM certification or actively pursuing.
