What are the responsibilities and job description for the Radiology RN position at Medical Center Hospital?
Position Summary:
Provides nursing care for patients requiring radiological services; assesses patient condition; assists radiologists, physicians and department staff. Performs such duties that will maintain and improve quality patient care; recommends policies, procedures and performs PI and risk management activities related to the radiology department patient care. Participates in performance improvement activities.
Qualifications:
A. Education:
Currently licensed in the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse. BSN preferred.
B. Training and Experience:
1. Current BLS certifications required through the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
2. Successful completion of hospital and nursing orientation within 3 months of hire required.
3. Complete the Customer Service course within 3 months of hire required.
4. One year of RN experience in critical care setting preferred.
5. ACLS and/or PALS within 3 months of hire or transfer to department.
6. Moderate sedation competency completed within 3 months of hire or transfer to department.
7. Complete the following competencies within 3 months of hire or transfer to department
a. Special Procedure RN Competency
b. Nuclear Medicine RN Competency
c. MRI RN Competency
C. Job Knowledge:
Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing procedures including IV therapy and patient care monitoring devices. Performance improvement and adult education principles helpful.
Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
A. Occasionally required to lift and position patients for procedures.
B. Job has the potential for exposure to infectious diseases and radiation.
