What are the responsibilities and job description for the Section Supervisor position at Medical Center Hospital?
Position Summary:
The Section Supervisor is responsible for the efficient operation of the department with an emphasis on producing timely and quality laboratory test results.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
Certification:
MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MT(AMT), MLS(AMT) or equivalent certification. Must meet CLIA education requirements for a general supervisor for high complexity testing. Certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
- Training and Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in clinical laboratory. Supervisory experience preferred.
- Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Requires ability to lift and move boxes of supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Job requires extended periods of standing, walking, and use of stairway.
- Job involves exposure to bio-hazardous materials, chemicals, and potential infectious diseases.
