Job Summary and Qualifications

• In accordance with nursing standards, JCAHO, Medicare, and all other applicable federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations, the Nurse Manager has the responsibility to plan, organize by setting goals and objectives, and direct all unit activities by assuming responsibility for the nursing care given on a designated patient care unit.
• The Nurse Manager evaluates the effectiveness of the staff and unit performance and coordinates the unit activities with other departments.
• The Nurse Manager has accountability for the specific operational and personnel activities is assumed.

What qualifications you will need:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree required.

Licensure/Certification:

• Current license as a professional nurse. Texas State RN license or compact license is accepted.
• Current BLS with American Heart Association or American Red Cross within one week of hire.
• Current ACLS with American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days of hire.
• Current PALS or ENPC certification or certification within 90 days of hire.
• Current Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum (TNCC). Certification of Emergency Nursing (CNE) preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years acute care nursing experience, one of which is in Emergency Services.

Additional Requirements:

• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions and prioritize responsibilities when circumstances warrant such action.
• Clinically proficient in nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the development needs of neonate/infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Demonstrate leadership ability.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and other employees.
