SUMMARY:
The Infusion Manager oversees the daily operations of Medical Clinic of Houston’s 17-chair Infusion Center. This position provides leadership and direction to clinical staff while ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality infusion care. The Infusion Manager is responsible for coordinating patient flow, optimizing staffing opportunities, new biosimilar therapies, managing inventory, and operational efficiency. In collaboration with the Director of Nursing, this role supports team development, ensures regulatory compliance, and drives operational excellence in a patient-focused environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational Oversight
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Infusion Center, ensuring efficient patient throughput and appropriate resource allocation.
- Monitor productivity, staffing needs, and scheduling to support clinical demand while maintaining high standards of care.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and patient experience.
- Ensure appropriate inventory levels for medication management.
- Lead initiatives that support cost savings, including the utilization of biosimilars and participation in pharmaceutical rebate programs.
- Be a resource for referring physicians for any issues or concerns they may have.
Clinical and Environmental Safety
- Ensure safe infusion practices in accordance with clinical guidelines, Clinic policies, and state regulations.
- Promote and maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment for patients and staff.
- Serve as a resource for nursing staff and ensure compliance with current standards of practice.
Leadership and Staff Management
- Supervise, support, and guide the infusion nursing team including RNs, LVNs, admixturist, and medical secretary.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and training of new staff.
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and support continuing education and certification.
- Foster a collaborative and respectful work environment that promotes accountability, professionalism, and teamwork.
- Delegate responsibilities appropriately, adhering to the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
Compliance and Quality Improvement
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Participate in internal audits, quality assurance activities, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of operational and patient care activities.
- Address patient, physician, and staff concerns promptly and professionally, escalating as appropriate.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with physicians, administrative staff, and other departments to support coordinated patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding treatment expectations, processes, and education.
- Represent the Infusion Center in Clinic meetings and contribute to cross-functional planning.
BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Experience Equivalent to:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related field preferred.
- LVN or RN license in the State of Texas preferred but not required.
- ACLS and BLS certification (if clinically licensed).
- Certification in IV therapy and/or Chemotherapy/Biologic administration is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of two years’ experience in an ambulatory care or hospital infusion setting.
- Supervisory or managerial experience required.
- Familiarity with oncology, rheumatology, endocrinology, and gastroenterology drug therapies preferred.
- Experience with cost-management strategies strongly preferred.
- Knowledge in Epic and Lynx medication dispensing system.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient knowledge of oncology, rheumatology, endocrinology and gastroenterology drugs, as well as pharmacotherapy.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in conflict resolution and problem solving.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient medical and financial information in accordance with Clinic policy and legal requirements.
- Foster a professional, private, and confidential environment throughout the Clinic and Infusion Center.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods, reach up to 6 feet, and bend to floor level.
