SUMMARY:
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is responsible for direct and telephone nursing care for patients in the Clinic. The LVN completes focused assessments of patients in suite and over the phone, assists in developing a care plan, coordinates tests and/or therapeutic procedures, implements ordered treatment(s), teaches patients in their proper care and treatment, manages medication refills and adherence to medication schedules, supports, and guides unlicensed support staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Responsibilities

8. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize
9. Possesses knowledge and ability to perform tasks, and instruct patients
10. Adheres to the Clinic policy and standard operating procedures, national standards of care and evidence, and demonstrates competence in nursing skill set
11. Respond to workplace changes and accepts appropriate guidance to ensure efficiency
12. Documents assessments and care promptly with clarity and accuracy
13. Presents and adheres to Clinic and State continuing education requirements
14. Organizes and keeps patient flow moving smoothly
15. Able to problem-solve, mitigate, and resolve concerns
16. Communicates clinical problems promptly to physician
17. Communicates identified areas for quality improvement as needed
18. Administer injections, port flushes, port dressing changes, IV insertions, and IV therapy.
19. Performs other assigned duties as needed and assists with other clinic activities (e.g. inventory, stocking supplies, sanitizing equipment etc.)

1. Demonstrates accountability for practice in accordance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act, Code of Ethics, Practice Standards, policies, and procedures
2. Adopts and maintains ethical and professional standards of licensing agencies in dealing with all associates and the public.
3. Maintains confidentiality of patient medical and financial information in all methods of communication in accordance with the Clinic policy and with all applicable laws
4. Provides an atmosphere of professionalism, privacy, and confidentiality in the clinical area
5. Adopts and adheres to all state or federal laws, statutes, regulations, etc., related to licensure, care, and documentation
BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Experience Equivalent to:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of an approved school for Registered or Vocational Nursing
- Unrestricted license to practice in the State of Texas.
- BLS certification
- Two or more years previous clinical experience
- At least one year oncology patient care experience
Skills and Abilities
- Must demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Uses analytical skills for troubleshooting and problem solving.
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand at least 75% of the time;
- Able to lift, position, push and/or transfer patients;
- Able to sit, walk, carry 50 lbs., push, pull, reach, handle, bend, kneel, crouch;
- Has manual and finger dexterity;
- Able to speak and hear;
- Has near visual acuity;
- Able to speak English fluently;
- Has color vision and depth perception;
- Has full range of motion in back.
