In the role of Assistant Center Director, Operations you will be working in the Center for Advancing Population Science.
Purpose
Under the direction of Center Director, responsible for the effectiveness of the center's operational activities ensuring center goals are met effectively and efficiently. Management of operations related to strategy, financial, research, personnel and administrative.
Primary Functions
- Assist with the development metrics, guidelines, and strategies by which the center efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated
- Assist in the development and execution of the strategic plan within the center
- Assist in the review, analysis, and evaluation of operational procedures and activities; provide advice, insight and recommendations
- Assist in communicating new directives, policies, or procedures are disseminated timely and effectively
- Hire, supervise, train, and mentor all operational staff
- Provide leadership for the center's pre and post grant management activities, including the development of training, training of research staff, and supervision of research staff
- Monitor, analyze, and forecast center's financials in collaboration with center leadership; provide training and supervision of financial staff
- Oversee fiscal, personnel, and administrative operations, including development of annual budget under the direction of the Center leadership
- Work closely with and maintain open communication throughout the institution and with external stakeholders to ensure collaboration and alignment of goals
- Interpret and advise faculty and staff on MCW policies and interpretation
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
Understanding of research, financial and human resources related issues. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong critical thinking, problem solving and attentiveness to detail required. Strong computer skills. Knowledge of research and medical terminology preferred.

Minimum Required Education : Bachelor's degree
Minimum Required Experience : 8 years
Preferred Experience : Progressively responsible experience in office management with supervisory and budget management responsibilities. Experience in a medical, research, or educational environment.
Field : Finance, management, or healthcare administration
