What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Professor - Pediatric Neuropsychology position at Medical College of Wisconsin?
Position Description:
PEDIATRIC CLINICAL NEUROPSYCHOLOGIST
Children’s Wisconsin and Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is recruiting a pediatric neuropsychologist with interest in preschool-age children with neurological, medical and genetic disorders.
A personal commitment to equitable provision of care to historically marginalized populations is required and individuals from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Minimum requirements include a doctoral degree in psychology with neuropsychological emphasis, and completion of a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric clinical neuropsychology. Qualified applicants should be license-eligible in the State of Wisconsin and board certified or eligible for ABPP/ABCN certification. This position is a faculty position in the Division of Neuropsychology in the Department of Neurology at MCW, and applicants at any rank (assistant, associate, or full professor) will be considered. Our faculty are dedicated to clinical, research, education, and community engagement.
Neuropsychology provides patient care within the Children’s Wisconsin Neurosciences Center throughout the Children’s Wisconsin hospital in an acute inpatient neuroscience floor, inpatient rehabilitation service, outpatient multidisciplinary follow-up clinic(s), and our outpatient neuropsychology clinic. Children and adolescents from ages birth to 25 years with neurological, genetic and medical disorders are cared for in the Children’s Wisconsin Neurosciences. Neuropsychology cares for the cognitive development of these individuals from onset of their disorder or birth until they transition to adult living. This position would focus care on our youngest of patients across a wide range of neurological, genetic and medical disorder. Our providers also maintain a general clinical practice for patients of all ages as well.
Desirable candidates possess unique talents and skills to mesh with existing operations. The abilities to work and think quickly, efficiently, and flexibly, to conduct both comprehensive and brief consultative evaluations, to be a strong team player, and to be timely in completion of required patient care, training, and research documentation are essential.
Activities of teaching, supervision, and mentoring are highly valued as well including supervision of four pediatric postdoctoral fellows in clinical neuropsychology and teaching didactics to our child and adult neuropsychology fellows and practicum students from numerous regional graduate programs. Successful candidates will have strong interests in collaborative clinical research in specific areas of expertise. Advanced methods for data extraction from the medical record allow for timely research. The Department provides mentoring, research administrative support, and protected time for new faculty to establish their research program. The Department supports a major fMRI research laboratory devoted to understanding normal and abnormal language functions, a MEG research center, collaborative IOM program for brain tumors, and several clinical research databases. At MCW, community partnerships that reduce inequities in health care are encouraged and supported and consideration of equitable care is essential across all missions.
