Position Description:

The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and Children’s Wisconsin are actively recruiting a Pediatric Ophthalmologist to join our Ophthalmology team.

Job requirementsThe Department of Ophthalmology at Medical College of Wisconsin is seeking an academically oriented Pediatric Ophthalmologist to join six pediatric ophthalmologists, five pediatric optometrists, and eight orthoptists. This is an open-rank, full-time position. The position entails clinical activity at Children’s Wisconsin, the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Eye Institute, and one or more satellite clinics. An interest in teaching and research is important. Clinical and/or basic science research could be supported with start-up funds. Anticipated start date is September 2025.

Qualified candidates will be considered at the rank of assistant professor or higher . Candidates must have an MD or DO degree, be board-certified (or board-eligible and subsequently board certified within five years of employment) in ophthalmology, be fellowship-trained in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, and hold or be eligible to hold an unrestricted Wisconsin medical license. Proficiency in retinopathy or prematurity (ROP) screening and treatment is desired. A competitive compensation package is available. Benefit details can be found online at mcw.edu/hr.

Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus

Our team of experts readily collaborates to offer children premier, comprehensive pediatric ophthalmologic, optometric and orthoptic care. Our Pediatric Eye Team treats more than 15,000 children each year. In addition, our service provides adult strabismus evaluations and surgery including full sensorimotor workups, Fresnel fittings and surgical consultations. Last year, we performed over 1000 adult strabismus exams and performed nearly 300 adult strabismus surgeries.

Our specialists have the most pediatric eye care experience in the region and are actively involved in clinical research studies, including national studies funded by the National Institutes of Health. Our research projects include retinopathy of prematurity, telemedicine, quality improvement projects, and imaging in conjunction with the Advanced Ocular Imaging Program at the Eye Institute. We serve as a residency training hospital and clinic educating 4 ophthalmology residents per year.

We offer a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship, pediatric optometry residency and an orthoptic fellowship program.
