The Associate Director, Revenue Cycle Innovation and Optimization is a strategic leader, performing advanced level work focused on strategic growth, Epic optimization and redesign, and technology integration and enhancements across professional services revenue cycle, including generative AI and computer-assisted coding solutions. The individual is responsible for supporting highly successful and efficient business operations to maximize clinical revenue within the constraints of applicable regulatory requirements.

Hybrid Work Opportunity : 80% remote and 20% onsite .

Responsibilities :

  • Guide and direct Clinical Information Services (CPS CIS) in their day-to-day job functions.
  • Lead initiatives focused on Epic and technology optimization and automation to streamline revenue processes. Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies that enhance efficiency and ensure compliance.
  • Champion continuous improvement in collaboration with Revenue Cycle Operations leaders by identifying opportunities for process optimization and standardization. Leverage technology and best practices to drive innovative and compliant revenue cycle functions.
  • Apply Epic, coding, business operations, clinical compliance, and AI expertise to create efficient, stable, cost-effective solutions that optimize professional services revenue cycle workflows.
  • Tracks the impact of deployed solutions and communicates sustained benefits to the Revenue Cycle leadership team.
  • Direct special projects for professional revenue cycle services in support of clinical revenue enhancement and optimization.
  • Liaison between Clinical Practice Services (CPS) and clinical departments, health system partners, and third-party vendors in support of program growth and development.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with CPS, clinical, IT, finance, and operations teams to optimize, implement, and enforce consistent charging practices. This role is pivotal in ensuring alignment between service lines and revenue cycle operations to support optimal and compliant charge capture and reconciliation.
  • Collaborates with Froedtert IT Revenue Cycle and operational process owners to develop and refine project plans to effectively achieve the desired outcomes, including budgetary needs.
  • Evaluate, monitor, and introduce innovative business processes and automation technology.
  • Demonstrates superior conflict management skills, reinforces a team-focused culture, ensures barriers are identified and resolved without impacting strategic objectives.
  • Review payor communications, identifying risk for loss reimbursement related to medical policies and prior authorization requirements; escalates potential issues to clinical stakeholders, managed care contracting, and Revenue Cycle leadership as appropriate.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities

Advanced knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 coding, payer and governmental policies. Deep knowledge of Epic and related revenue cycle systems and solutions. Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and decision making. Demonstrated teamwork and leadership abilities including strategic thinking, innovation, and collaboration. Experience in team building, staff development, and mentoring. Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities to understand stakeholder and customer needs and facilitate informed decision-making. Strong organizational skills for managing multiple priorities and detailed information. Proficient in evaluating opportunities and drawing valid conclusions based on quantitative analysis. Drive performance excellence through enhanced processes and automation, ensuring high-quality, timely services and exceptional customer support.

Preferred Schedule :

Full-time role with expectations for coverage during core business hours and flexibility required as necessary to accommodate business needs.

Position Requirements :

Minimum Qualifications :

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis

Minimum Required Education : Bachelor's Degree in healthcare administration, business administration, IT, health informatics, nursing, health information management, or a similar field.

Minimum Required Experience : Eight (8) years experience in a similar or relevant role.

Certification : Certified professional coder - (CPC, CCS-P, CPC-A, or CCA) and / or health information management credential (RHIT or RHIA) required.

Preferred Qualifications :

Preferred Experience : Ten (10 ) years of professional services coding and / or reimbursement follow up experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations for a large, complex health care environment, including experience in an academic medical center is preferred.
