The Department Administrator will serve as a key leader overseeing financial, operational, strategic, and administrative functions for both the Comprehensive Injury Center (CIC) and the Neuroscience Research Center (NRC) . Working in dyad partnerships with each Center Director, this role will be responsible for strategic visioning, resource management, and operational execution to support each center's research, community engagement, and academic missions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for the smooth function and development of department administrative operations to include information systems, contract and grant development and negotiations, as well as system design and development to support all department functions.
- Develop and manage annual budgets totaling roughly $10M. Monitor expenditures in relation to established budget, develop budget controls and reports, and analyze data against benchmarks.
- Oversee $13.4M community safety granting programs (WCSF; BJA).
- Work in partnership with the academic units of Center Faculty, including CIC Division Directors, to ensure proper management of grants, contracts, staff, and resources.
- Monitor and direct strategies for optimal philanthropic intake in the areas of neuroscience research and injury prevention.
- Develop and monitor strategic long- and short-term program and space planning including building design. Set priorities and goals.
- Develop and monitor administrative infrastructure to support department operations to include staffing levels, compensation plan, organizational development, recruitment and retention, and team building.
- Integrate and coordinate department activities with MCW administration, internal and external entities. Negotiate contracts as required.
- Develop and monitor systems for auditing and tracking financial matters. Monitors department compliance of operational policies and procedures. Work with department faculty regarding grant writing, adherence to budget guidelines, and opportunities for extramural funding.
- In conjunction with the Center Directors, develop and assess internal and external partnership opportunities.
- Serve as advisor to the Center Directors on issues including strategic planning, faculty hiring and disciplinary practices, faculty salary and institutional and inter-institutional negotiations.
Preferred Schedule :
Full-time role with expectations for coverage during core business hours and flexibility required as necessary to accommodate business needs.
