Position Description:

In the role of a Grants Operations Coordinator you will be working in our Cancer Center.

Purpose

Coordinates the pre-award planning, organization, and preparation of various grants assigned to one or more research and/or clinical departments. Interacts with investigators and administrative staff to ensure that grants are in compliance with regulatory, funding agency, and policy requirements. Provides guidance and support to investigators in the identification and development of grant opportunities.

  • Assists administrative staff and research team in the creation, negotiation, and administration of grants, contracts, and research proposals.
  • Assists with pre-award applications.
  • Coordinates and participates in the grant application process from conception to development to submission.
  • Ensures compliance with sponsor terms, MCW policies and procedures, and federal regulations.
  • Identifies funding sources.
  • May consolidate sources of information to ensure application document requirements are complete.
  • Ensures compliance with grant guidelines, budgets, and stipulations.
  • Researches, locates, retrieves, compiles, analyzes, consolidates and summarizes research data such as Cancer Center member publications, extramural research funding and return on investment.
  • May assist with other functions, including training fellow Cancer Center Administration employees, pilot grant program administration, and writing or editing philanthropy case statements, pilot grant RFAs and various internal and external Cancer Center communications.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities

Previous experience related to scientific research or research administration in an academic medical center or university is a plus.
Previous participation in or exposure to research or research development is a plus.
Demonstrated technical writing ability is a plus.
Prior experience with pre-award grants administration is a plus.
Knowledge of accounting, mathematics, administration, English language, and human resources.
Work requires resource management, mathematics, problem solving, coordinating work activities, critical thinking, systems analysis, operations analysis, time management, writing, active listening, and active learning skills.
Speech clarity, finger dexterity, and wrist-finger speed while operating computers abilities required.

Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Minimum Required Experience: 4 years of experience

Preferred Education: PhD

Preferred Experience: basic, translational, or clinical oncology research, grant writing, academic setting

Field: Communication, Biological Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Oncology
