Purpose
The Pediatric Surgery Research Resident is a dedicated trainee position designed to provide hands-on research experience in pediatric surgery and related fields. This role offers an opportunity to participate in cutting-edge research, contribute to scientific publications, and develop a strong foundation in research methodologies, all while being integrated into an academic surgical team. The position is intended for individuals pursuing a career in pediatric surgery or academic surgery.
Primary Functions
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to design and conduct research studies in pediatric surgery.
- Develop and refine research protocols, ensuring compliance with IRB and other regulatory agency requirements and ethical standards.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret clinical and experimental data using appropriate methodologies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of research activities.
- Perform statistical analysis using software such as SPSS, R, or Python.
- Generate visualizations and summaries of data for reports and presentations.
- Draft manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, abstracts for conferences, and grant proposals.
- Present research findings at national and international conferences.
- Assist in preparing Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications and other regulatory documentation.
