Position Description :
This is a senior-level, non-faculty researcher position that will contribute to the vision and mission of the Division of Data Analytics and Informatics in the Comprehensive Injury Center (CIC) . Under the Injury C ontrol Research Center (ICRC) designation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the CIC is conducting four large research projects and administering annual grants to fund pilot projects related to health disparities in injury research. The four research projects span several areas related to injury and violence prevention and intervention including suicide prevention, traumatic brain injury, the role of alcohol in f irearm-related deaths, and overdose prev ention. The annual pilot granting will offer funds to MCW PI's researching injury-related topics across the translational spectrum of research with particular focuses on injury disparities. The Statistical Research Scientist will be involved in every aspect of the CIC's ICRC research agenda for t he four main research projects, the pilot funding program, and related research in the CIC. The Statistical Research Scientist will be involved in study design and consultation with prin c ipal investigators , analysis and evaluation staff, basic scientists , and clinicians, data management, analysis, and preparation of progress report and manuscripts. This is a highly collaborative role and the Research Scientist w ill be expected to contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
Primary Functions
- Support the statistical analysis needs for CIC injury prevention research and evaluation efforts in Milwaukee County and across Wisconsin.
- Serve as a statistician on translational injury research studies with responsibilities ranging from collaborating on , reviewing, or directly leading study design , to developing analysis plans, and conducting sophisticated and cutting-edge data analyses.
- Contribut e to science through both independent and collaborative research, including co-authoring papers and contributing to grant development and submission .
- Assist in outcome interpretation and composition of the results sections of manuscripts and reports.
- Communicat e results to collaborators and larger scientific audiences at research conferences.
- Plan and perform statistical analyses using advanced techniques; determine and review statistical findings with investigators and recommend design modifications.
- Lead efforts to apply novel statistical methodologies related injury epidemiology
- Lead , supervise, and collaborate with staff, including biostatisticians and potentially graduate or medical students .
Regularly r eview the latest research methodologies in statistical approaches and develop plans for implementation.
