Job Description

The Training and Development Specialist will design, implement, and manage training programs aimed at improving employees’ skills and knowledge, with the primary objectives of fostering employee development, boosting productivity, and enhancing both employee satisfaction and company culture. This role is measured against performance plan goals and objectives. Responsible for departmental performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the company’s overall training and development strategy, including both FDA compliant training and non-FDA compliant training and development, with a focus on non-FDA compliant training and development for all roles.
  • Collaborate with the Director of HR and department heads to identify training needs across the organization.
  • Lead efforts to formalize training programs, ensuring compliance with FDA standards.
  • Design and deliver training programs, including new employee onboarding, new manager training, safety protocols, and any specific regulatory training required by FDA guidelines.
  • Work with APO/IMO leads and department managers to gather insights and adapt training content to meet the specific needs of each shift and team. Focus on OJT versus paper training wherever possible.
  • Coordinate training logistics, such as scheduling, tracking attendance, and documenting completion in collaboration with HR staff.
  • Work with QA staff to maintain and update training records to ensure compliance with FDA audit requirements and report on training completion.
  • Perform regular reviews of training effectiveness and modify programs to close any competency gaps.
  • Develop training plans for professional staff in areas like leadership, communication, and functional skills based on input from department heads.
  • Work with the Director of HR and department managers to align training and development programs with career growth opportunities and company goals with the objective of enhancing employee satisfaction and company culture.
  • Take the lead in preparing the annual IWT (Incumbent Worker Training) grant application, with support from the Director of HR.
  • Manage the training budget, coordinating with the Director of HR and CFO to allocate resources effectively.
  • Employ surveys to measure the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, education, or related field.
  • 5 years of training and development management experience.
  • Must be fully bilingual, able to read, write, and speak fluently in both English and Spanish.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated experience with HRIS systems.
  • Demonstrated experience leading training and development in a high growth, changing organizational environment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in developing and facilitating training programs.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, public speaking skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to evaluate training programs for effectiveness.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in HR or a related field.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.
  • 5 years of training and development management experience in a manufacturing environment.

Physical / Mental Demands:

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Work may require weekend and evening work.
  • Work under stress in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be alert, able to concentrate, and use good judgment.
  • Must be able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking.
  • Public speaking.
