What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Examiner Forensic Autopsy Technician - Full Time & Part Time position at Medical Examiner?
The District 6 Medical Examiner serving Pinellas & Pasco Counties is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Forensic Autopsy Technician. We are seeking applicants for both full-time and part-time positions that involve working rotating schedules to include weekdays, rotating weekends, and may be required to be on-call after hours.
The Forensic Autopsy Technician is responsible for decedent processing and preparation, along with assisting Forensic Pathologists in all aspects of decedent examination and autopsy for cause of death determination are ancillary tasks. This position may require assistance with decedent transportation from the place of death to the Medical Examiner Office. Qualified applicants shall possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and either 6 credit hours in human anatomy or physiology, or experience in a medical related field, funeral service or forensics. Preference will be considered for those applicants with related college degree and/or education/experience in crime scene technology, funeral service, or related medical field.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Assisting Forensic Pathologists with decedent processing, examination and autopsy.
Prepare accurate records, forms, labels and documents.
Photograph decedent and document evidence.
Responding to location of decedent and assisting Forensic Investigators.
Transporting decedent from various locations of death as directed.
Ability to lift a minimum of 150 pounds.
Move decedents of various sizes and conditions from place of discovery onto stretcher and into transportation vehicle.
