Position Summary
This position works under the direction of the Senior Director of Informatics and the Project Director to lead the Epic clinical ambulatory application implementation and provide day-to-day direction to the Ambulatory team on the planning, design, development, build and/or configuration of third-party applications and Epic’s clinical and patient experience applications which include EpicCare Ambulatory, MyChart, Bones, CareEverywhere, Kaleidoscope, Beacon, Willow Ambulatory and other related Epic and third-party applications. The Clinical Applications Manager supports the planning, design, development, build, and/or configuration of Epic’s Ambulatory modules such as SmartForms, and Order Transmittal, as well as third-party applications such as SureScripts. The Epic Clinical Team Lead will have a solid understanding of the clinical operations of MFA’s ambulatory practices including (but not limited to) order entry, clinical documentation, charge capture, and results routing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for overseeing Clinical and Patient Experience applications within the Epic environment at MFA. Responsibilities include:
- Lead the EpicCare Ambulatory and MyChart Analysts through implementations; providing instruction on various technical topics to other team members, educating/training new hires, providing mentorship to team members, managing an application project through the entire project life cycle while meeting project deadlines and initiatives and monitoring a project plan while reporting project changes and status to project managers and supervisor.
- Lead the EpicCare Ambulatory and MyChart team members on the optimization of the application through the development of new functionality, testing and implementing scheduled vendor releases and system upgrades, and fixing system defects.
- Serve as the resource for other application team members on technical and functional application analysis, defining system requirements, and developing logical data models using best practices for build and configuration, maintenance, workflow, and data integrity.
- Assign and manage the daily and long-term work tasks of the analysts on the team.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in informatics, IT, or other related discipline
Licensure
- Current and active EpicCare Ambulatory certification.
- New hires and transfers have 45 days from completion of MFA-sponsored Epic training to successfully complete Epic certification
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of electronic health record systems analysis, design, build, and support required. Epic application implementation, troubleshooting, testing, and support experience strongly preferred.
- Prior professional experience with data collection procedures, data management, and project management.
Physical Requirements
- Sit, stand, bend, reach, walk for long periods of time in office setting
- Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. frequently
- Use of steps, stairs, lifts routinely
- Regularly exposed to healthcare setting that may require personal protective equipment
- Requires manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment
