Position Summary
This Executive Director (ED) provides direct the day-to-day routine operational direction and oversight of the George Washington Heart and Vascular Institute and help achieve a long-term mission of this academic program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work with the Institute Director and Associate Director and the Institute Board of Directors to develop, promote, and monitor the programs of the Institute
- Update the website promoting Institute activities
- Work with the Institute of Board of Directors to assist the Board and their functions
- Work with the Institute Director and Associate Director to identify research programs, educational activities, and community service opportunities
- Administer applications, budgets, and procedures for the Institute sponsored research
- Oversee the finances for the Institute tracking income expenses and developing the Institute annual budget. This includes managing the budget of the Heart and Vascular Institute with regards Institute supported staff, educational programs, community service projects, research income and research projects that are supported by the Institute
- Help coordinate community connections
- Assist GW physicians and scientists in developing and conducting Institute sponsored activities
- Help develop and coordinate marketing of the Institute
- Coordinate fundraising for Institute activities collaborating with the University Medical Center Development office and assist with philanthropy and fundraising activities
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field of study, or an equivalent combination of training and experience, is required.
- A Master’s Degree is preferred.
Experience
- A minimum of 7 years of successfully demonstrated operational experience with progressively higher levels of responsibility preferably working in a successful academic practice.
- Experience with Epic is preferred.
- Project management experience is preferred.
