What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Scribe, Emergency Medicine position at Medical Faculty Associates, Inc.?
Position Summary
This position has first-line responsibility for assisting the various departments; ENT, Transplant, Urology, Neuro Surgery, Hematology/Oncology, and Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine Physicians with various aspects of electronic medical record documentation. Enhances the ability of the physician to efficiently process paperwork associated with the office visit and any needed follow-up. This individual will work closely with the physician and clinical staff to ensure that he/she is recording accurate medical information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.
- Must be able to document written, typed, and/or computer medical information into the electronic medical record system.
- Must be able to transcribe the spoken word into words, symbols, and terms which reflect the medical assessment of the clinical practitioners.
- Must be able to distinguish between the different forms of medical results and physical findings and appropriately document them.
- Must be able to assist the attending physician with routine office visit activities.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with clinical and non-clinical personnel.
- Proficient in data entry via a computer.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the Basic Sciences, English, Computer Science, and/or an equivalent combination of education and training.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology through experience and/or attendance in and passing of a medical terminology class/course.
Physical Requirements
- Walk, stand, and reach outward on a constant basis in an office setting.
- Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull over 100 lbs. as part of the role.
- Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment.
- Requires manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment.
