What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pulmonary Function Lab Technologist position at Medical Faculty Associates, Inc.?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Assesses, observes, and reports pertinent and significant patient responses to treatments and/or procedures. Performs routine analysis and studies as requested.
- Demonstrate responsibility to prioritize and adjust plan of care or adapt to changing priorities and plan of care as delegated.
- Participates in appropriate patient/family teaching as designated per individual role.
- Maintains personal growth and development through in-services, educational programs, and workshops.
- Performs a variety of clinical interventions as specified in the department’s competency/skills checklist, such as: Assist medical staff,. Fellows, and researchers in all respiratory-related procedures.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates complex Pulmonary/Respiratory procedures for patients, both IN and OUT-patients. Procedures may include FVC, FRC, DLCO, pre/post Bronchodilators, Methacholine Challenges, oxygen, humidity, and aerosol therapy, arterial blood gas interpretations and punctures.
- Tracks scope of problems to determine the needs for external repair and places service calls, when necessary, for all PFT Lab equipment.
- Performs other work-related duties as requested

Education
- Graduation from an approved two year respiratory therapist program is necessary.
- RRT or CRT Credentials by the N.B.R.C. is required.
- Current D.C. License.
- RPFT or PFT Credentials preferred
Experience
- At least two years of previous PFT experience is preferred.
