Description
The Circulator / Operating Room RN is responsible for coordinating and controlling the multi-disciplinary activities required to provide a safe environment for patients undergoing surgical intervention. Essential duties include :
- Creating a safe, therapeutic environment in which the patient's psychological, physiological, and physical needs are identified, anticipated, and met.
- Working with other nursing and materials staff to ensure all equipment, inventory, and supplies are properly prepared for each case.
- Exhibiting a high quality of work in regards to documentation of information in the patient chart, preference cards, incident reports, etc.
- Coordinating activities within the OR to provide for non-eventful, safe, effective, and timely surgical intervention.
- Directing and assisting the Surgical Technician through the surgical procedure and with the surgical count.
- Properly handling and identifying all specimens.
- Assisting with dressings as needed.
