THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a Senior Medical Economics Analyst, your experience and skills will play a pivotal role in identifying opportunities in cost and quality goals, developing financial models and expanding care management objectives of the organization. An ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical economics, healthcare analytics, and value-based care.

 

WHAT YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO:

Program Support:

  • Analyze ACO REACH and MSSP program performance, including cost, utilization, and quality metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in shared savings and financial performance.
  • Participate in strategy development to manage financial risk and achieve program targets
  • Evaluate and quantify the financial impact of care interventions and initiatives.

 

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Analyze claims, clinical, and operational data to uncover trends and drivers of healthcare costs.
  • Provide actionable insights to improve patient care and reduce waste.
  • Create dashboards and reports to monitor program performance.

 

Financial Modeling:

  • Participate in developing and maintaining predictive models for cost and utilization forecasting.  Develop and maintain predictive models for cost and utilization forecasting.
  • Support risk adjustment analyses and calculations.
  • Collaborate with actuarial teams to evaluate shared savings potential and financial benchmarks.

 

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with clinical and operational teams to implement strategies that enhance MSSP outcomes.
  • Support care management programs by providing data-driven insights on high-cost and high-risk populations.
  • Highlight opportunities of improvement to medical directors and leadership.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare economics, Statistics, Public Health, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of value-based care, ACO REACH and MSSP regulations, and quality metrics.
  • Proficiency in medical economics principles and healthcare cost modeling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Expertise in working with healthcare datasets, including claims and eligibility. 
  • Strong communication skills to present complex data to diverse stakeholders.
  • 5 years of related healthcare experience preferably in a managed care setting
  • 5 years financial modeling experience
  • Proficiency in SAS programming.
  • Proven track record of working with MSSP programs, risk adjustment methodologies, and financial benchmarking process.
  • Experience analyzing healthcare quality metrics (e.g., HEDIS, STAR ratings, ACO performance).
  • Demonstrated experience with value-based care and risk sharing arrangements, including bundled payments and shared savings models.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Experience in data analysis tools, including SQL or Python.
  • Strong understanding of population health management principles.
  • Advanced Excel skills (dashboards, pivot tables, VBA).
