Location: Lake Zurich, IL (Onsite Position)
Position Summary:
The Production Planner position performs direct manufacturing activities in the production department in support of the department objectives to provide goods and services that meet customer’s requirements for quality, quantity, and timeliness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible to follow Medical Murray Quality system, including all applicable SOP's included in the Training MatrixPlanning and Scheduling
- Evaluate and identify product timing for acknowledgments with consideration of personnel and material resources
- Evaluate and recommend adjustments to resources to meet production objectives, including assembly personnel, equipment, tools, and facilities
- Recommend additions or reductions to hourly labor and support staff as necessary to meet the production forecasts, support hiring activities.
- Develop, maintain, build, plan, and provide production schedule to the production team, including 2nd shift transition support
- Support manufacturing and development manufacturing activities, including as needed assignments of personnel on a temporary basis
Production Support
- Work with customer service to supply work orders to the production floor
- Review and approve Lot History Records associated with products built for production
- Ensures that targets for productivity are maintained
- Continuous Improvements
- Generate data and manages KPI's that monitor operational efficiency in key areas of on-time delivery, productivity
- Make recommendations and support projects to improve the operations with regards to productivity and delivery
Material flow
- Evaluate and identify material risks and provide support to buyers
- Establishes min-max levels and kanban systems to ensure sufficient levels of inventory are in-hand
- Oversee material flow within production, establish system and implementation
ERP oversite
- Maintains all inventory categories and product lines for the business and oversees all GSS BOM and part number implementation
- Develop and maintain ERP system to support build planning and productivity analysis
Support transfer builds with assembler assignment, material issues to floor, LHR review and approval
Manage labeling activities to support product builds and shipments
Performs other duties as requested
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years of planning experience within a manufacturing environment
- BS degree, preferably in a technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Materials and logistics experience in a manufacturing environment
- Understanding of metrics and practices related to operational labor and materials
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Ability to manage time and self to meet organizational objectives
- Experience in floor layout, tooling, fixturing, and Lean methods
- Ability to work with a variety of groups in a matrix environment to facilitate and foster effective change
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems to manage productivity and planning
