Schedule: Part-time with flexibility to work 20-30 hours per week.
What You’ll Do:
A massage therapist provides therapeutic massage treatments to clients to relieve pain, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being. They assess client needs, recommend treatment plans, and maintain a clean, calming environment.
- Consults with clients before massage to identify and evaluate areas requiring therapeutic treatment.
- Consults with clients to assess their expectations, and asks questions related to pain or discomfort and to learn and/or update their medical histories as necessary and appropriate to the scope of treatment.
- Performs requested or suggested massage techniques, that may include deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, Shiatsu, hot stone therapy, Thai massage, and/or sports massage.
- Occasionally communicates with the patient throughout the massage to ensure comfort with pressure levels and techniques being applied.
- Provides a relaxing environment for clients.
- Demonstrates and educates clients on methods to soothe and strengthen targeted muscles and tissues at home; may provide reference materials such as printed diagrams and materials or links to websites and videos for further guidance and instruction.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You Need For This Job:
- Active Alaska license as massage therapist.
- Must reside in or near Anchorage, Alaska.
- Two to four years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Have general knowledge of EMR software and Outlook Programs
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to frequently stand; walk; sit; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
