What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phlebotomist position at Medical Network of Alaska?
MNA Delivers leadership, support, and guidance to healthcare facilities of all sizes across multiple specialists with the primary goal of providing accessibility, value, and quality medical administrative support services.
What You’ll Do:
A medical professional will take blood samples from patients in a medical laboratory.
- Assembles equipment such as tourniquets, needles, disposable containers for needles, blood collection devices, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on work trays according to requirements for specified tests or procedures.
- Identify patients and their personal information using their ID, documents, or other means.
- Determine the right venipuncture method based on the patient’s age, health etc.
- Reassures patients and helps them relax.
- Draw blood using sterilized needles, vials, and other equipment.
- Ensure optimal quality and quantity of samples.
- Label samples correctly.
- Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards while working.
Other duties may be assigned.
What You Need For This Job:
- High School Diploma or general education degree
- Phlebotomy Certification
- Preferred First Aid, CPR
- Must reside in or near Wasilla, Alaska.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of EMR software, database software and LabDaq, Care360 order processing systems.
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, use hands, or feel and talk and hear. Ability to occasionally sit, reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to lift and/or move 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
