Job description
Fast paced Psychiatrists office in the Galleria area is seeking a receptionist who ensures that customers receive courteous and prompt service. A successful candidate will be self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented with an ability to multitask working in a fast-paced environment. A suitable candidate will welcome visitors and patients by greeting them, in person or by telephone. Perform administrative duties using specific knowledge of medical terminology and according to practices, hospital, or pharmacy procedures. Schedule and register patients for visits, verify insurance, check out patients and collect co-pays. This position requires a lot of teamwork and provides a great opportunity to join a growing and successful company.
· Job Duties
· Operate telephone to answer, screen or forward messages.
· Greet patients entering establishment, determine nature and purpose of their visit.
· Transmit information or documents to customers or billing using computer, mail, or facsimile machine.
· Hear and resolve complaints from patients.
· Perform administrative support tasks, such as proofreading, verifying insurance, transcribing handwritten information, or operating calculators or computers to work with patient information, or other documents.
· File or scan patient records and adhere to patient confidentiality policy.
· Collect, sort, distribute, or prepare mail, messages, or courier deliveries.
· Receive payment and record receipts for services.
· Assisting pharmacy and patients with prescription requests.
· Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
· Perform various clerical or administrative functions, such as ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies.
· Interview patients to complete documents, case histories, or forms, such as intake or insurance forms.
· QUALIFICATIONS
· AA Degree
· One year front desk experience in a medical environment preferred
· Knowledge of insurance verification required
· Basic knowledge of medical terminology
· Demonstrated computer skills for documenting patient care in an electronic medical record
· ICD-10 CM Knowledge a plus
· CPT- Knowledge a plus
· Ability to communicate effectively in person, on the telephone, and in writing
· Ability to work independently and as a team
· Ability to read and comprehend patient medical charts, medical terminology, prescription medications, and physician message
· Bilingual Mandarin/Spanish preferred
· EMR/EHR experience a plus
· Must have knowledge of and maintain HIPPA compliance.
