What are the responsibilities and job description for the Endoscopy Technician position at Medical Office?
We are a well-established surgical center looking for a new employee to join our team. Our company is looking for individuals who are independent and self-motivated. As a company we are focused on providing our patients with quality healthcare. We believe that each employee is an integral part of our team. We are currently seeking a part-time or a per-diem Endoscopy Technician to work Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The Tech is responsible for the care and maintenance of all equipment, assisting the physician during the procedure, ordering and inventorying of supplies, and assisting the Registered Nurse in the admitting, recovery, and discharge process.
Endoscopy Technician Responsibilities:
- Setting up and maintaining equipment, including correctly assembling needed equipment, as appropriate, and any accessories
- Assisting physicians during endoscopic procedures; cleans and disinfects procedure rooms
- Cleaning, disinfecting and reprocessing endoscopes and associated accessories
- Keeping an accurate inventory of supplies and supply ordering
- Cross trained to work in PACU including but not limited to patient care, chart documenting and auditing, linen care, scanning, general paperwork etc.
Endoscopy Technician Qualifications:
- High School Graduate; Current BLS certification- or obtained within first year of hire
- One year Endoscopy Technician experience preferred
- At least one year of experience in a Medical setting with a working knowledge of Medical terminology; prior experience in a GI setting
- Previous experience with cleaning, disinfecting, and processing endoscopes, maintaining equipment and ordering supplies
- Must be able to understand and follow instruction with speed and accuracy
- Possesses a sense of responsibility, initiative and honesty
- Current CFER certification, or obtained within first year of hire
- Ability to work in an office/clinical environment with healthcare interactions that include patient contact, hazardous chemicals and infectious disease
- Excellent knowledge of infection control principles
