Job Description:
Medical Scribe will directly support our medical oncologists by accompanying the doctor during each patient encounter to take notes for each appointment. Medical Scribe must have excellent interpersonal, organization and follow-up skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously. The essential duty of the Medical Scribe position is to thoroughly document the entire encounter of the patient’s visit with the physician.
This position will be located in La Jolla, CA. The schedule will consist of 3 days a week, Monday- Thursday, consisting of 8-10 hour days.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Assist patients with health history.
- Prepare patient charts and ensure all necessary information is included Document all labs and diagnostics.
- Document the patient and physician encounter with the interval history.
- Communicate effectively with other team members through orders and chart messages.
- Add new diagnosis codes as well as place all orders alongside physician.
- Work side by side with physician to construct notes on all patient visits.
- Record patient information in EMR.
- Effectively completes other duties and projects as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Education:
- 1-3 years medical office experience preferred.
- Previous medical scribe experience is required.
- Clinical/healthcare experience in oncology/hematology preferred.
- Previous scribe or transcription experience preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have a passion for medicine and a desire to grow.
- Must be adaptable and be willing to take constructive criticism.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Ability to work in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to operate a computer and/or laptop through proficient typing, clicking, and viewing a monitor for
- extended periods.
