MedPrep will open its doors for the 2025-2026 school year, starting with grades 6 and 7 and expanding one grade each year to ultimately serve grades 6-12.
Position Overview
The Director of Finance and Operations is a key member of the leadership team at MedPrep, responsible for ensuring that the school operates efficiently and effectively. This role encompasses oversight of non-academic functions, including facilities management, compliance, transportation, food services, safety, technology, and day-to-day operational logistics. The Director of Operations will work closely with the Executive Director, leadership team, and staff to create and maintain a safe, supportive, and productive environment for learning.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Develop, implement, and refine systems, policies, and procedures to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Manage all non-instructional services, including facilities, transportation, food services, technology, and school safety protocols.
Monitor and ensure compliance with state, federal, and charter school regulations.
Oversee procurement processes, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with budget constraints.
Facilities Management
Manage the maintenance, repair, and cleanliness of the school facility, ensuring it meets safety and health standards.
Coordinate with vendors and contractors for facility-related services and improvements.
Lead the development and execution of long-term facilities plans.
Safety and Risk Management
Develop and oversee school safety policies, including emergency preparedness and crisis management plans.
Conduct regular safety drills and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
Serve as the point of contact for security-related matters.
Technology Oversight
Oversee the procurement, implementation, and maintenance of technology resources for both staff and students.
Work with IT vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure the reliability of technology systems.
Transportation and Food Services
Coordinate transportation logistics, ensuring safe and efficient bus services for students.
Oversee the food services program, ensuring compliance with nutritional standards and timely meal delivery.
Team Management and Support
Supervise and evaluate operational staff, including custodians, cafeteria staff, and other non-instructional personnel.
Provide training and professional development opportunities for operations team members.
Collaborate with the leadership team to support schoolwide goals.
Financial and Resource Management
Support the Executive Director and Principal/Instructional Leader in budget development and monitoring.
Manage operational expenditures within approved budgets and identify opportunities for cost savings.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, education administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in operations, facilities management, or a similar role.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in technology systems and software, including MS Office Suite and operational management tools.
Preferred:
5 Years years of professional experience in operations, facilities management, or a similar role.
Rhode Island Department of Education School Business Administrator Certification
Experience working in a K-12 educational setting, particularly in a charter school environment.
Master’s degree in a relevant field.
Familiarity with Rhode Island state education regulations and charter school compliance requirements.
Project management certification or experience.
