TITLE: Pharmacy Tech(Hospital Setting)
LOCATION: near Buckeye Lake, OHIO

Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in assuring timely and accurate provision of medications to patients. Routine technician functions are performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. These functions may include unit dose dispensing, intravenous admixing, inventory control, record keeping and billing, and extensive use of equipment and technology. Participates in performance improvement activities of the department and daily management of infection prevention and control activities.
Responsibilities:
-Assists the pharmacist in providing medication, drug information and pharmaceutical services to patients, nurses, physicians and other hospital personnel.
-Prepares intravenous admixtures and other sterile products.
-Restocks decentralized automated dispensing devices and prepares medications for devices to be checked by a pharmacist.
-Assists in overall inventory control by verifying and putting away medications from the wholesaler, placing orders with wholesaler or direct purchase, review stock for proper storage and current expiration dates, checks and records medication refrigerator temperatures.
-Package medications that are not commercially available in unit dose packages; properly label medications and maintain records.
-Assists the pharmacist in the daily operation of the department; properly prioritize workload; demonstrates responsibility and ability to act independently in areas not requiring the professional judgment of a registered pharmacist.
Qualifications:
Pharmacy Technician Certification required. Previous hospital pharmacy technician experience preferred. Knowledge of mathematical manipulations (ratios, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions). Basic knowledge of computers. Demonstrates flexibility, ability to multi-task and effective organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow procedures and work in a closely supervised area. Ability to relate to other people and work well in a group environment.
The IV Tech Pharmacy position is 32 hours a week, working four 8 hour shifts.
Additional info:
The position is located east of Columbus. Work in a team environment that reports to the Director of Pharmacy whom is well respected. Position is 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday. Rotating every 3rd weekend (hours adjusted during weekdays when this occurs). In addition to day to day duties, the person would be trained to compound chemotherapy drugs for our clinic patients onsite. The range is $17.53/hr - $24.7/hr depending on experience, will received an extra $1.00/hr shift differential on the weekend.
