JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for documenting accurate and detailed information of patient visits. The ideal candidate will provide the highest quality customer service to patients, adhere to practice protocols and processes, and effectively manage the volume of work without allowing quality to be compromised.
POSITION DESCRIPTION & DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Transcribe and chart patient encounters
· May manage an average of at least two patients per hour, and a minimum of four patients per hour during peak times
· Manage and sort medical documents within the EHR system, and assist with e-prescribing.
· May generate referral letters for physicians
· focus on patient in-take and care during practice hours
· Facilitate diagnostic tests and referrals to medical specialists
· Assist the Physician with fundamental patient care
· Maintain a clean and professional working environment
· Assist with training of newly hired Medical Scribes
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree in healthcare field preferred
· Successful completion of Medical Assistant training program an asset
· Experience with medical terminology
· Excellent computer skills
· Impeccable verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
· Strong attention to detail
· Knowledge of Athena a plus
· Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Excel and Word
· Excellent interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communications skills
Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk, stand and sit intermittently. Upon occasions be able to assist in properly moving a patient. Be able to lift up to 30 pounds. May need to push or pull medical equipment. May have to stoop, bend knees and/or reach. Must be able to use the keyboard on a computer. Phone work required.
Personal Qualities: Develops and maintains good relationships with co-workers. Demonstrates good judgment when dealing with sensitive issues. Must have the ability to address sensitive issues in a confidential manner. Supports organizational and department goals.
