We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Part-Time Phlebotomist to join our team. This role is responsible for performing venipuncture and related procedures while upholding the highest standards of patient care and professionalism. The ideal candidate will be patient-focused, efficient, and capable of maintaining a steady and productive work pace. In addition to phlebotomy duties, this position will occasionally assist with back-office procedures and support the chemotherapy room as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine blood draws within 5 minutes and more challenging cases within 15 minutes.
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, and processing of specimens according to established protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work area.
- Utilize laboratory computer systems to order tests and obtain results.
- Maintain and document logs, including those for outgoing labs and refrigerator temperatures.
- Perform daily startup and shutdown procedures on laboratory equipment as required.
- Assist with patient vitals and transport patients to the chemotherapy room as needed.
- Deliver reports and pull charts for physicians.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and confidentiality regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2–3 years of experience in a medical facility preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification or medical assistant certification preferred.
- Previous experience in an outpatient setting is a plus.
- Excellent patient relations skills with the ability to create a calm and comfortable experience.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
- Ability to handle interruptions and adapt to unpredictable situations.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
