What are the responsibilities and job description for the SURGICAL PATIENT LIAISON | GI Lab | Full Time position at MEDICAL WEST HOSPITAL AUTHORITY?
The patient liaison is responsible for coordinating all surgical/GI procedures. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Understands and performs computer functions as they relate to surgery and GI departmental policy and procedure.
- Answers telephone in a professional manner.
- Takes accurate and detailed messages; Relays messages to appropriate party.
- Works efficiently to ensure all patient needs are addressed.
- Acts as liaison between patient, physician, and hospital staff.
- Ensures the nurse supervisor and/or director is informed of any potential issues.
- Facilitates communication with surgery/GI patients scheduled for procedures per policy.
- Prepares the surgery/GI schedule for the following day.
- Notifies the appropriate department head nurse and Anesthesia staff of any changes in the schedule line-up as reasonably possible.
- Seeks assistance from supervisor when scheduling unfamiliar procedures.
High School diploma or GED is required. Knowledge of medical terminology and data entry experience is preferred.
