TRAVELING PHARMACY TECHNICIAN – Pharmacy Management Department
Medication Review, Inc. is the Northwest’s premier provider of pharmacy services, and offers opportunities for pharmacists and technicians in a variety of practice settings. Current job openings are in our Pharmacy Management department. We are looking for well-qualified Pharmacy Technicians to provide full time coverage within our contracted hospitals in the Central Washington area. Pharmacy Technician must be certified in Washington State.
Description:
Performs specialized, technical pharmaceutical tasks such as maintaining inventory control, maintaining an automated medication distribution system and performing unit dose medication checking in a central pharmacy operating under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or performs area-specific technical pharmaceutical tasks in an inpatient hospital unit technician may work in multiple facilities.
Typical Work Duties (not limited to):
- Performs documentation functions in designated areas of the pharmacy
- Files and retrieves various pharmacy records as required and/or requested by the pharmacist
- Loads medication containers or unit dose drawers for the medication distribution system
- Prepares medications for dispensing including prepackaging, counting, pouring, labeling and delivering medications under the direction of a pharmacist
- Attends to customers/nonprofessional calls in a courteous and timely manner
- Processes inventory orders and supplies/orders
- Monitors and replenishes drug stock in the pharmacy, floor stock in nursing medication areas and drug stock in emergency drug carts
- Responds to questions not requiring a pharmacist’s professional judgment / refers all questions regarding drug therapy to the pharmacist
- Retrieves specific clerical and other patient information from patient profile as directed by the pharmacist
- Performs various and basic computer functions
- Extensive traveling
- Ensures assigned work areas and equipment are clean and orderly
Ability and Requirements:
- Ability to understand oral and written directions from registered pharmacists; organize and perform work effectively and accurately; operate computers, word processors, understand medical terminology; conceptualize and communicate improvement in functioning pharmacy procedures.
- Current Washington State Pharmacy Technician License, in good standing
- Preferred:
- CPhT Certification
- 2 year’s pharmacy hospital and/or clinic experience
