As an Automation Specialist Certified Pharmacy Technician, will impact the lives of our customers by-
- Performing duties assigned by a licensed pharmacist. Areas of work are checked routinely for maintenance of quality control. Work is conducted in accordance with generally accepted standards of practice following departmental procedures and policies as outlined in the department operations manual.
- Demonstrating competence in the area of regulatory compliance and ensures that the property stays in regulatory compliance with all regulatory agencies
- Reading and interpreting physicians’ orders received in the pharmacy and transcribing the information into the pharmacy computer medication profile. Requiring knowledge to adjust dosing times as pharmacy will generate MARs; preparing unit doses; and labeling individual patient envelopes for dispensing to the nursing unit.
- Filling individual patient drug orders working from a medication fill list; recording doses for credit or charge; acknowledging filling of cassette by initialing work done.
- Performing narcotic medication preparation; ensuring that records are kept accurate. Ensuring pharmacists are aware of any returns, so they are processed accordingly.
- Preparing in accordance with standards of pharmacy practice compounds for outpatient use (e.g., creams, ointments) under direct pharmacist supervision.
- Using a computer program, prepackaging medications, which are not available in unit dosing, using automatic prepackaging and label machine. Keeping appropriate records for recall purpose.
- Attending and participating in pharmacy staff meetings to exchange ideas to achieve goals of the department.
- Assisting pharmacy staff with checking in orders, putting orders away and filing associated paperwork.
- Continuing education by attending drug in-services and keeping up with policy changes.
- Other duties as assigned.
