Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Laboratory Manager to oversee our
Responsibilities
- Responsible for day-to-day supervision of the laboratory operation and personnel performing testing and reporting
- Assure remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specification.
- Ensure that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken
- Provide orientation and training to all testing personnel
- Establish a quality control program and a quality assessment program appropriate for the testing performed and establishing the parameters for acceptable levels of analytic performance and ensuring that these levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process
- Ensure the establishment and maintenance of acceptable levels of analytical performance of all test systems
- Identify training needs and assuring that each individual performing tests receives regular in-service training and education
- Evaluate personnel performance on an annual basis
Below is our official testing personnel duties, signed by our pathologist, filed, and reviewed by CLIA. The lab manager is also considered testing personnel if they touch patient samples.
- Follow the lab’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results
- Observe and comply with policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment and improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Adhere to the laboratory’s policies with regards to QC, QA, proficiency testing, and remedial action
- Perform troubleshooting and calibrations on instrumentation when needed
- Draw blood from patients by venipuncture, capillary or arterial method.
- Processing all requisitions for laboratory work.
- Perform tests as authorized by the director.
- Perform start up and shutdown procedures.
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and as needed maintenance on all equipment.
- Keep laboratory and equipment clean.
- Order or request supplies as needed to keep material on hand at all times.
- Maintain organized workflow, report out accurate results, and follow through with proper paperwork.
- Perform Quality Control in all areas of the lab.
- Perform Proficiency testing in all areas of the lab.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Follow established corrective action procedures and document all corrective action
- Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance and correct the problem or immediately notify an appropriate person
- Confer and advises physicians on results of tests.
- Attend required meetings.
