We are hiring for the following:
Position: Physician
Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, 8am-4:30pm
Location: Piedmont Regional Jail
Pay Rate: Starting at $125 per hour, and rising commensurate with experience

All the behavioral and mental health patients are diagnosed and managed by Licensed Mental Health clinicians and our Psychiatry practitioners.

We have Protocols and Guidelines for management of individuals who arrive and could be in withdrawal from intoxicating substances.

Medical Records Clerks will request and obtain offsite medical records as promptly as possible.

Our EMR system is very user-friendly and we have a dedicated in-house support team to help train and troubleshoot any issues as needed.

Most new arrivals to the detention center will be released or bonded within the first week, and before seeing Medical staff.

Responsibilities:
-
Observe protocols, policies, procedures, and regulations of assigned correctional facility
-
Document promptly and properly in order to monitor services provided and compliance with facility/client contract
-
Notify Corporate Medical Director and Health Services Administrator (HSA) of schedule coverages and schedule changes
-
Assist in arrangements of coverage of medical services if unavailable for extended period of time
-
Maintain current state license to practice medicine
-
Maintain required number of CME credits to continue practicing medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia
-
Review and countersign therapeutic orders and progress notes by the PA/ARNP, if applicable, ensuring orders/notes are appropriate and effective
-
Visit infirmary daily when on-site and record encounters in the patient’s progress notes, if applicable
-
Document in EMR, or on approved paper form in SOAP format, and legible if handwritten
-
Ensure all documentation is dated, timed, problem-oriented and encounters are located in EMR with documents or legible and signed if handwritten
-
Adhere to the established formulary for therapeutic regimens before utilizing non-formulary procedures
-
Utilize available in-house resource personnel for treatment or resolution of identified problems before using off-site referral, if possible
-
Provide emergency treatment on-site and respond appropriately in urgent or emergency situations
-
Demonstrate proper technique for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and related drug therapy
-
Supervise care given by other processional or non-professional personnel, providing instructions as needed
-
Report any questions regarding lack of appropriate referrals or interventions necessary to realize patient goals to Corporate Medical Director
-
Provide clinical oversight to facility medical program as defined by the ACA standards
-
Consult with medical specialists for advice and expertise in their respective areas
-
Provide consultation to all professionals in the system
-
Partner with Health Services Administrator (HSA) in supervising continuous quality improvement program assist in development of criteria
-
Serve as member of the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) committee; make recommendations to improve patient outcomes
-
Review and approve treatment protocols, clinical policies and procedures, to include infection control and infirmary (if applicable at site), and fire and disaster plans at least annually or on as needed basis
-
Serve as liaison with health care providers in the community
-
Review all death and inmate grievances and appeals
-
Work with the Health Services administrator (HSA) to establish and maintain chronic care clinics that comply with ACA and NCCHC standards
-
Assist the HSA in monitoring pharmacy to include: formulary compliance, prescribing patterns and dispensing of medications, participation with P&T committee

Respect the dignity and confidentiality of patients
-
Independent medical judgement with regards to patient diagnosis and treatment shall be unrestricted
-
Provide on-call services as assigned by the facility and/or company needs
Qualifications
-
Must hold or obtain state license to practice medicine and maintain active licensure throughout employment at this location
-
Must hold or obtain DEA registration and maintain registration while practicing medicine
-
Board Eligible or Board Certified, or qualified by state law and regulation to practice medicine based on Continuing Medical Education
-
Experience in Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine or Public Health preferred
-
Must hold Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved) prior to start date
