Job Description

QA Software Engineer III-IV

  • Software Engineer III : $95,717 - $132,808 - $169,899
  • Software Engineer IV : $110,983 - $155,376 - $199,769

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Level III

  • Performs evaluations and audits of software documentation and software processes associated with products under test.
  • Establishes, adheres to, and maintains software testing methodology and test environments.
  • Reviews requirements and technical designs for projects and provides test scope and estimates.
  • Creates and validate software test documentation, including test plans, test procedures, test scripts, and diagrams depicting the test process / workflow.
  • Collaborates with non-technical MedImpact cross-functional team members.
  • Executes and tracks testing on assigned MedImpact proprietary products, including new products and modifications to existing systems.
  • Actively identifies potential process improvements, error trends and / or the root causes. Makes recommendations for remedies to colleagues and management.
  • Communicates software issues through defects and enhancement requests to project team.
  • Actively provides status to lead or supervisor on assigned projects.
  • Projects as assigned based on business needs.
  • May lead test efforts for small or medium-sized software projects or changes.
  • Level IV

  • Leads testing efforts for software projects or changes in a dynamic environment.
  • Plans resource needs and proactively mitigates any potential risks that may impact the timelines of initiative assignments.
  • Performs evaluations and audits of software documentation and software processes associated with products under test.
  • Establishes, adhere to, and maintains software testing methodology and test environments in favor of automation and self-service capabilities.
  • Reviews requirements and technical designs for projects and provides test scope and estimates.
  • Creates and validates software test documentation, including test plans, test procedures, test scripts, and diagrams depicting the test process / workflow.
  • Collaborates with non-technical MedImpact cross-functional team members.
  • Executes and tracks testing on assigned MedImpact proprietary products, including new products and modifications to existing systems.
  • Actively identifies potential process improvements, error trends and / or the root causes. Makes recommendations for remedies to colleagues and management.
  • Communicates software issues through defects and enhancement requests tracking system to project team.
  • Actively provides testing status to ScrumMaster or project managers of assigned projects.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities

    No supervisory responsibilities.

    Client Responsibilities

    This is an internal client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening / verbal / written). One must be able to; manage difficult or emotional client situations; Respond promptly to client needs; Solicit client feedback to improve service; Respond to requests for service and assistance from clients; Meet commitments to clients.

    Education and / or Experience

    Level III :

    B.S. degree preferably in information technology, computer science or related (or equivalent combination of education and experience), and 5 years' related experience in software quality assurance testing methodology.

    Level IV :

    B.S. degree, preferably in computer science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and 8 years' related experience in software quality assurance testing methodology. Prior PBM or healthcare experience is helpful but not required.

    Computer Skills

    Level III

  • Knowledge and experience with Quality Assurance testing techniques used to test software applications (test suites and scripts), anomaly reporting, software analysis, functional and system testing, "black box" and "white box" testing techniques, and software development data validation functional and system service testing.
  • Extensive experience of designing, developing, documenting and executing test scenarios for functional and regression testing. Experience in identifying and documenting test scenarios to provide clarity and transparency of functional test traceability and managing testing artifacts effectively.
  • Knowledge of data analysis capability required to understand CMS reporting requirements and produce test data from source to target.
  • Strong proficiency in writing complex SQL (preferably PL / SQL on Oracle) queries perform data verification and validation for reports. Knowledge and ability of understanding database structures.
  • Seasoned experience working with defect management, test management and documentation tools, such as JIRA, Xray Test Repository, Confluence.
  • Experience with UNIX / Linux systems including advanced level knowledge of shell scripting, and some experience with Python is a plus.
  • Experience of testing web and back-end programs and applications, including APIs developed in various technologies such as PL / SQL, Spring Boot and Java.
  • Extensive testing experience on Agile Scrum team in a dynamic environment. Ability to adept and pivot dependent on priorities.
  • Deep understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge and experience of creating, reporting, maintaining and improving the testing automation and execution with the best tools such as Selenium, Selenium Grid, TestNG, Java, Gherkin, Cucumber, Postman etc. is a plus.
  • Great interpersonal, negotiation, communication and presentation skills. Able to achieve shared vision with the stakeholders when facing priority conflicts. Must have the proven ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships across departments.
  • Previous experience PBM in a regulated environment is preferred.
  • Level IV

  • Previous experience or knowledge of managed care, pharmaceutical, and medical terminology is preferred. Prior experience in a regulated environment is helpful.

    Work Location

    This individual must work on-site at the San Diego headquarters for the purpose of providing adequate support to internal clients; being available for face-to-face interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as for facilitation of quick and effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders. Remote work is not an option for these purposes.

    Working Hours

    This is an exempt level position requiring one to work the hours needed to get the job done. Therefore employees must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, weekends or on holidays as required. Working hours may vary to meet the needs of the business. Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 9 : 00am to 5 : 00pm.

    Travel - This position may require occasional travel and attendance at local conferences and meetings.
