Medina Creative Housing has an opportunity for an Occupancy Specialist to join our Team! Looking for candidates with a strong understanding of customer service, experience with HUD and OHFA processes, and be detail-oriented.
The responsibility of the Occupancy Specialist is to oversee and maintain the residency of all HUD properties to meet all governmental guidelines. Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Interview and process eligible households for rental assistance and affordable housing programs.
· Process applications and information received from prospective tenants and determine their eligibility for the program.
· Verifies income, assets, medical or unusual expenses and assisted dwelling information.
· Remains up-to-date on all relevant housing regulations and policies.
· Enters data into system database to generate rent, utility allowance, and escrow calculations.
· Counsels applicants with their various housing options and assists participants with establishing goals.
· Acts as a liaison for applicants and participants needing help in finding a satisfactory unit and with other housing related issues.
· Prepares necessary forms and secures signatures to finalize agreements between tenants, owners, and Medina Creative Living.
· Reviews incoming requests for lease approval or lease transfer.
· Advises management of any issues.
· Maintains participant and applicant contact via communication re: process updates.
· Perform annual recertification as well as computing any interim rent changes.
· Ensures accuracy of all records and files for all tenants.
· Resolves program abuse allegations with appropriate warning or notice of termination, when/if warranted.
· Prepares monthly reports.
· Promotes programs in the community.
· Represents program at various industry-related community meetings.
Reports to Director of Housing and Facilities
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
