Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing enriching experiences for our residents. The ideal candidate will be passionate about enhancing the quality of life for seniors, particularly those in long-term care settings. This role involves planning and implementing engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being among residents, including those with dementia and other aging-related issues.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and execution of recreational activities tailored to the interests and needs of residents.
- Facilitate group and individual activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.
- Provide support to residents during activities, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to identify residents who may benefit from additional engagement or specialized programming.
- Maintain an organized schedule of activities, ensuring timely communication with residents regarding upcoming events.
- Document participation in activities and gather feedback from residents to improve future programming.
- Support event planning efforts for special occasions, such as holidays or themed events, to foster community spirit within the facility.
- Assist with dementia care by providing tailored activities that stimulate memory recall and cognitive function.
Qualifications
- Experience in senior care or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices is highly desirable.
- Background in recreational therapy or related fields is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for working with seniors.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Experience in event planning is beneficial but not required.
