What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeper/Laundry Attendant position at Medina Nursing Center?
Pick up, deliver, sort, wash, dry, fold, stack and hang residents and facility laundry. Knowledge of household and industrial laundry equipment; maintain cleanliness of laundry areas.
The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.
qualifications:
Educations: High school diploma or GED preferred

Experience: One year of laundry experience preferred.
Job Knowledge:
Ability to read, write and follow instructions; knowledge and ability to use household and industrial washers and dryers; knowledge of commercial laundry processes, equipment, and procedures for both washing and ironing materials.
essential functions:
1. Ability to maintain a steady work pace to produce an adequate supply of clean garments and linens.
2. Ability to place garments and linens in drum of electrically powered washer.
3. Ability to adjust temperature valves and maintain appropriate temperature as required.
4. Ability to identify and report any malfunctions in equipment.
5. Ability to prevent the spread of infection through proper handling, storage, washing and transporting of all garments and linens.
6. Ability to add soap and other solutions to laundry.
7. Ability to operate an automated laundry solution dispensing system.
8. Ability to transfer clothes from the washer to the dryer.
9. Ability to hang, fold and stack garments and linens.
10. Ability to report any garments or linens in ill repair to supervisor.
11. Ability to distribute clothes to residents’ rooms in accordance with the theft loss program.
12. Ability to observe infection control procedures related to the Laundry Department.
13. Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm, effective manner.
14. Ability to follow fire and disaster procedures during a drill and actual occurrence.
15. Ability to come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
16. Ability to attend in-service training programs.
17. Ability to follow Resident’s Rights policies at all times.
18. Ability to follow facility safety program.
19. Ability to accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.
20. Ability to assume accountability for data contained in the employees’ handbook.
21. Ability to perform other related duties as assigned by the Administrator or Supervisor.
