Job Summary:
The Swim and Dive Coach is responsible for the planning and execution of the Junior Swim and Dive Program, and coordinating all activities with the Pool Manager and Junior Committee.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop workouts, drills, and plans for practice. This will be submitted to the pool manager on each Monday before practice begins.
- Prepare lineups for all home and away swim meets using meet manager computer software. These are to be completed by 5:00 pm on the Tuesday before a Wednesday night meet.
- Create a meet file for home meets, and seed meet for home swim meets.
- Send out completed lineups to the team by 10:00 am on Wednesday mornings before a meet to catch any lineup errors before arriving at a swim meet.
- Create a lineup with seed times for the conference swim meet.
- Arrive at practice early to decide on cancellations due to inclement weather.
- Arrive at all dual meets at 5:15 to make lineup changes, and direct assistant coaches to run warm-ups and prepare swimmers for the meet.
- Work with opposing coaches and pool managers to decide on meet cancellations due to inclement weather. These decisions will be made as soon as possible on meet days.
- Direct Assistant coaches on training plans for practice.
- Work with all ages throughout the season as needed.
- Assist with setup and takedown of all home swim meets.
- Create ribbons for home and away meets to be distributed to the team.
- Thorough knowledge and application of swimming and water safety skills.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
- Adapts your teaching approaches to the age, experience, and ability of participants so they can meet course objectives.
- Communicate effectively with all Junior Committee members, especially the Chair of the Committee and Chair of Swim / Dive.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- The Swim Lesson Coordinator must be at least 18 years of age with a strong swimming background and hold at least one of the following current certifications:
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
- American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and First Aid
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 2 years experience teaching swimming and water safety skills.
- An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent leadership and public relations skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong decision-making skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
Base pay starting at $18/hr
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
