Have you been considering a career change? Our local communications department is growing! Medix Ambulance Service is seeking applicants for full time Dispatchers, no experience necessary. Applicants must be detail oriented, comfortable making and taking professional phone calls, and have excellent communication skills. Through our on the job training we will help you get MPDS/EMD certified within 6 months of employment in our Communication Center. Our Emergency Medical Dispatchers are responsible for the efficient and orderly disbursement of ambulance and/or wheelchair resources to meet the demands of Medix and our community.
Duties involved include:
- Receiving telephone calls and listening to callers to accurately ascertain the nature of the call and respond with the appropriate service.
- Entering information at workstation computer terminal while continuing to question and listen to the customer
- Deploying the appropriate resources to meet the emergency and non-emergency needs of the community
- Scheduling appointments based on the customer’s needs
- Maintaining accurate records of customer contacts
- Maintaining effective communications with all individuals, departments, and customers
- Actively participating in continuing education and maintain all required certifications.
- Completing other duties as assigned
Pre-requisites for Application:
In order to be considered as an applicant for a training position in medical communications the applicant must:
- Have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification (We can help you with this!)
- Excellent communication, organizational, computer, and problem-solving skills
- Ability and willingness to build proactive relationships with customers
- Ability to exercise good judgment
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work day and night shifts

Pay: $42,600.00 - $66,500.00 per year
