As a Pharmacy Technician in Compounding, you will play a critical role in the preparation of sterile admixtures and home medical equipment orders, working closely with the Pharmacist to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards. Your responsibilities will include:
- Compounding & Preparation: Coordinate and schedule the preparation of sterile and non-sterile products, including parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, chemotherapy, hydration, and narcotic analgesics, using aseptic techniques where permitted by law.
- Product Validation & Mixing: Perform necessary calculations for product preparation and seek validation from the Pharmacist prior to compounding or mixing.
- Documentation & Labeling: Prepare and maintain essential documentation, including labels, prescriptions, compounding worksheets, product lot numbers, expiration dates, and batch records.
- Inventory & Supply Management: Assist in the generation of delivery/pick slips, selecting supplies and home medical equipment, and monitoring patient/client inventory needs.
- Clean Room & Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that compounding and clean room areas are kept clean, sanitized, and in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Collaboration & Communication: Communicate with the Pharmacist to obtain supply inventories from patients/clients and participate in branch management, departmental, and quality improvement meetings.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all relevant accreditation, OSHA, FDA, state, local, and federal regulations related to infusion pharmacy and home medical equipment.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program; IV certification preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in a home care or pharmacy setting
- Minimum 1 year of experience with aseptic preparation of infusion-related pharmaceuticals in a hospital or home infusion setting
- Solid knowledge of drug terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, and aseptic techniques
- Strong mathematical and communication skills
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting prescriptions
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license required
