Introduction: We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and professional Process Server to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering legal documents (summons, subpoenas, court orders, etc.) to individuals involved in legal matters. This role requires an individual with excellent time management skills, the ability to work independently, and a strong understanding of legal procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve Legal Documents:
- Deliver legal documents such as summons, subpoenas, complaints, and court orders to individuals and businesses in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensure timely and accurate service of documents, tracking all deliveries and obtaining proof of service (affidavit or certificate of service).
- Maintain Records:
- Keep detailed logs and records of all service attempts, including the date, time, and location of service, and the outcome (whether successful or not).
- Submit completed affidavits and certificates of service in a timely manner to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Client Communication:
- Communicate with clients (attorneys, law firms, etc.) regarding the status of service, providing updates on successful or unsuccessful attempts.
- Notify clients of any issues or challenges encountered during the service process, and suggest alternative methods for service if necessary.
- Adherence to Legal Requirements:
- Stay updated on local, state, and federal laws regarding process service to ensure compliance at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality of legal documents and sensitive information at all stages of the service process.
- Problem Resolution:
- Handle any issues or complications that arise during the service process, including locating difficult-to-find individuals or handling resistance to service.
- Utilize skip tracing or other methods to locate individuals or entities that are difficult to serve.
- Travel and Fieldwork:
- Travel to designated locations to deliver legal documents in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain flexibility and availability to handle service requests on short notice, including some evening and weekend hours when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Previous experience as a process server is preferred, but not required. Training will be provided to the right candidate.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and the process serving industry is a plus.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with people in sometimes difficult or sensitive situations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and maintain confidentiality.
- License/Certification:
- Some jurisdictions may require process servers to be licensed or certified. Candidates must be willing to obtain necessary certification if required.

Pay: $21.85 - $23.91 per hour
