Overview
The purpose is to provide American Sign Language (ASL) services (Non-Advisory and Assistance Services) and deliverables in support of NASIC located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH. The Individual must have a TS/SCI clearance.
Description of Services
NASIC requires ASL services to support a government staff member to effectively perform their duties. Services are focused on providing support to the person for scheduled group meetings, training events, and occasional conferences.
Work Schedule
a. A typical week may comprise of multiple ad hoc short meetings scattered throughout the week on an unpredictable and intermittent basis. Support will typically total no more than 6 hours a week on average or an estimated 300 hours for the period of performance.
b. Typical events are expected to require one (1) interpreter. Some events with the following situations may require additional interpreter support.
- Events that require 1.5 hours of continuous interpreting services
- Physically intensive events
- Events with several deaf in attendance
c.. On rare occasions, the supported person(s) may be required to travel to perform their duties and will require ASL interpreter services to accompany them. Advance notice of travel will be provided at least 7 days prior to such an event. Travel costs shall be in accordance with the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).
Requirements
All ASL interpreters supporting this activity shall:
- Hold and maintain an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
- Be certified by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI).
- Have a minimum of five (5) years paid professional experience (defined as providing interpreting services on a full-time basis in a professional capacity for purposes of gainful employment).
- Adhere to the RID Code of Professional Conduct (CPC).
